It has been confirmed that the Lexus RC F will be powered by a V8 engine with 460 hp.
The Japanese automaker has been teasing images of the RC F, which will make its public debut at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show. As for the V8 powerplant, the news comes from an anonymous tipster that received an invite from Lexus for the RC F’s debut event.

It was previously rumored that the RC F would sport a 5.0-liter V8 under the hood with around 455 hp. Joining the RC F in Detroit will be the standard RC 350, which made its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show. Under the hood of the RC 350 is a 3.5-liter V6 with 314 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque while a hybrid variant is powered by a 2.5-liter engine mated to an electric motor that’s good for a total system output of 217 hp and 163 lb-ft of torque.
