2015-Honda-Fit

Honda has just introduced the third generation Fit for the American market. Set to go on sale this spring, Honda promises this new Fit will continue to offer great interior space and fuel efficiency while retaining the fun-to-drive reputation this little hatchback has earned over the years.

Power comes from an all-new direct-injected1.5-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine making 130 horsepower and 114 lb-ft of torque. Two transmission choices will be offered, a six-speed manual or a new continuously variable automatic unit. With the CVT, Honda claims the new Fit should achieve 33 mpg in the city and 41 mpg on the highway.

This new generation is slightly shorter, but with a longer wheelbase than the old model and is a bit wider. Passenger volume has gone up nearly 4.9 cu ft. and rear legroom has gained nearly five inches. The Fit has also lost 57 pounds and Honda is confident it will earn top safety scores from both the NHTSA and the IIHS.
